Why is it so important to protect my password?
With the advent of email and all-in-one services like PepperdineXpress, your password is the same as the password that is used to protect your school records and email. If you fail to protect your password, consider the following:
- Your print credit can be stolen
- Your academic records could be examined
- Email could be read and received from your account
- Your password could be changed, preventing you from having access
DO NOT LOAN YOUR PASSWORD TO ANYONE!
Doing so can result in the immediate revocation of network privileges and the involvement of the Dean's Suite, Honor Board, and law enforcement. These steps have been taken in the past. (Treat your password like a credit card; you don't loan it to someone because they've
maxed out their own, right?)
If you have reason to believe that your password has been taken,
please see the password-changing instructions in the
Computer Lab and the
Email sections of the LCS website. (Don't forget that your lab password and email password begin the same but can be changed separately.)
And please report your suspicions to Law Computing Support
immediately.
