Macintosh® Policy for ExamSoft Softest

Beginning Spring, 2008 Macintosh computers capable of running Microsoft Windows in native mode* may be used for any examination where ExamSoft SofTest is an approved method.  This includes midterm examinations during the Spring 2008 semester. 

In order for a Macintosh computer to run ExamSoft’s SofTest, the computer MUST have the following: 

  1. A version of Microsoft Windows (XP or Vista) * installed and functional.
  2. ExamSoft SofTest installed on the computer’s Microsoft Windows partition.

The Law Computing Support office will not support Apple computers or the Macintosh operating system.  However, regardless of the hardware manufacturer support WILL be provided to all ExamSoft SofTest users. 

Students will remain responsible for the installation and maintenance of Microsoft Windows as well as ExamSoft SofTest on their personal computers.

*Native mode in this context means that the Macintosh computer must boot directly into the Microsoft Windows operating system. The Macintosh computer must have an Intel processor. Microsoft Windows must be installed as a separate operating system; not using Parallels®  Virtual PC® or a similar Microsoft Windows emulation product. The Law Computing Support Office will not be able to install or troubleshoot the installation of Microsoft Windows on Apple computers.
