Why should I be using the Scan Disk tool?

Scandisk is a utility supplied by Microsoft with its Windows operating systems. Scandisk can save your computer lots of heartache caused by bad sectors on your hard drive. Bad sectors can be caused by corrupted files or a dying hard drive. Scandisk searches for these bad sectors and tries to repair them, usually notifying you if it finds anything wrong. If you are a normal computer user, we recommend that you run Scandisk at least monthly to protect against data loss.
