How do I "burn" data onto CDs in the main computer lab?

Note: The CD-writing hardware in the main computer lab is provided as a convenience to students who wish to backup and/or transport their own materials, i.e., outlines and papers. Please do not use the CD-writing hardware to violate copyrights or other legal rights. Pepperdine University and the School of Law strongly discourage any such abuse and may report incidents involving school software and hardware to the appropriate authorities.

Before proceeding: You must have a "CD-R" or "CD-RW" disk. These disks are often available in the School of Law bookstore. Each disk holds approximately 670 megabytes of information.
  1. Insert the CD-R/CD-RW into the CD drive
  2. If the D: drive folder does not automatically open, double click on My Computer. Then double click on D:
  3. Either right click the file(s) you want to copy from your computer and select copy. Then right click in the D: folder and choose paste.
OR right click the file(s)/folder(s) you want to copy and drag them into the D: folder. Then choose Copy Files.
  4. When you have finished copying the files you want to burn then go to File and choose Write These Files to CD.
  5. Then follow the CD Burning Wizard.
