Taking Exams on Computer
Concerns about ExamSoft FlexSite
A number of students have expressed concern about the switch to ExamSoft’s FlexSite product here at Pepperdine University School of Law.
FlexSite provides us the opportunity to avoid the most problematic parts of conducting exams on computer; the floppy diskette and the floppy disk drive.
FlexSite uses a network connection to the Internet via wired or wireless network to deliver blank exam answer files, and following an exam, to receive completed exam answer files.
Connectivity to the Internet is necessary to download the blank exam answer file prior to the exam. Following the completion of the exam, connectivity to the Internet is required to upload the student’s completed answer file.
The uploading of the completed answer file may take place anytime (and anywhere) a connection is established with the Internet. Immediate connectivity to the School of Law Wireless Network is not essential to effective uploading of the completed exam answer file.
If a student experiences difficulty in connecting to the Wireless Network, they should use one of the seventy wired study carrels on the first and second floors of the Law Library. Any Internet connection will accomplish the uploading of the completed exam answer file.
Keep in mind that the use of ExamSoft is a no additional cost service offered to students as an option and is not required. Students accept any and all risks associated with using computers to complete their exam answers. Remembering that nothing in technology is ever 100% guaranteed, the success rate for using computer-based exams at Pepperdine School of Law is among the highest in the country.
