- How do I use the Portable Projector?
-
- We suggest that all faculty and staff members
interested in using the multimedia equipment stop by and see us for a quick
trial run before attempting to use the machines for the first time.
-
- When you are ready to use the projector follow this step-by-step process to get it
running properly: Attach the power cord to the back of the projector and plug it into the outlet.
Make sure that the power button (on the back of the projector) is in the On position. Press
the On button on the top of the projector (you
should hear the fan start turning when the power is turned on).
-
- When the blue screen appears on your viewing surface, you know that it is ready to use.
When you are finished press the Off button twice on top of the projector. Before unplugging
the projector after use make sure that the fan has stopped running completely.
-
- Connecting the School Owned Laptop
Do not turn on the laptop yet!
- Connect both the projector and the notebook to the
VGA cable.
- Plug the notebook into the outlet using the power
supply.
- If you wish to use the floppy drive for your
presentation, make sure that it is the drive installed in the machine. If it
is not, please see a computer support staff member for assistance.
- Turn on the notebook by depressing the round, dark
gray button (above and to the left of the keyboard).
- If you have a floppy disk you wish to use, please
wait until the notebook boots up before inserting the disk.
- If you do not see your presentation on the projector screen press the Fn key and the
F8 key simultaneously and your notebook screen should appear on the viewing surface (you
may need to press these buttons more than once).
If this does not work, that means that your CRT/LCD function is not F8, please locate the function key
labeled CRT/LCD if you cannot find it, look for a
function (F) key with a monitor/screen icon on it.
- If the blue screen does not immediately go away press the Input Select button on the
projector until the same screen that appears on the notebook is visible on your viewing surface.
-
- Connecting the lab VCR to the projector:
- Connect both the projector and the VCR with the RCA
cables (red and white twins, usually, occasionally with yellow; single fat
prong)
- Align the plugs with their matching ports (red plug
w/ red port etc...)
- On the VCR, the RCA cable should be connected to the audio
and video OUTPUT
- On the projector, the cable should be connected to the machines audio and video INPUT
- Plug the VCR into the power outlet
- Turn on the power for the VCR
- Insert VHS tape and push the start button
- If the blue screen does not immediately go away, press the Input Select button on the
projector until the film appears.
- Please be aware that videos with sound will also need to have
the wireless speakers plugged into the VCR.
