Research assistants who need to print documents for professors will want to use
a different account so their personal printing credit is not depleted. The LCS office
can provide a research assistant account which will include printing credit. In order
to obtain a research assistant account, the professor will need to sign the Network
Account Request form. (The form can be printed out here and signed by both the faculty and assistant then
returned to the Law Computing Support Office in the Law Library.)
Things to know about the Research Assistant Account
Research assistant accounts must be renewed EACH SEMESTER! The purge process is automatic, so if you or your
RA(s) do not request that the account be renewed, the RA(s) may find that
the account has been archived and none of the saved data is visible.
If you have more than one research assistant, they
typically use the same account and password. Any documents saved will be
viewable and editable by everyone using this account.
If the password is changed, all of your research assistants need to be told. If
they are not, they will not be able to log in, and repeated attempts to use
the wrong password may lock the account.
If the account runs out of printing credit, the LCS
office can easily and quickly add more printing credit.
The Network Confidentiality-Security Agreement that must be signed applies
to you and to all who use the research assistant account.
