Note: Please keep in mind that the University and School of Law are only responsible for school-owned copies of Microsoft Outlook. Instructions for configuring your own copy of Outlook are provided simply as a convenience, and LCS and the Help Desk make no guarantees of support or successful configuration in these situations.
Use Method 1 below if you have a fast connection to the Internet (i.e., the school network, DSL, cable modem). Use Method 2 if you are trying to use Microsoft Outlook to check your mail via a dial-up modem connection (NOTE: Some users have reported problems sending mail using Method 2, due to restrictions that Internet Service Providers put on spammers.)
Method 1
Method 2 : The University Help Desk maintains the latest information on configuring Outlook XP for "IMAP" access, which is quicker but requires manual send/receive and does not synchronize folders besides your email. Please visit the Help Desk's web page for Outlook configuration instructions.
The University Help Desk maintains several on-line training pages for Microsoft Outlook. There is also a specific class for using Outlook to manage email.
